Importing a CRM Data Model

To simplify data model creation, you can create (or import) a data model based on a Microsoft CRM entity's attributes.

Note:
After importing the data model, any changes made to the entity in CRM would also have to be made to the data model. The CRM entity and data model are not connected.

To import a CRM data model, complete the following steps:
  1. Check out the solution.

  2. Click the Create tab. The Solution Items ribbon menu is displayed.

  3. Click the drop-down arrow below the New Data Model button. A drop-down list is displayed.

  4. Click Import Data Model from CRM Resource. The Import Data Model window is displayed.

  5. Select a resource from the Select a CRM System Resource drop-down list.

  6. Type the URL in the Metadata Service URL field.

  7. Type the organization in the corresponding field.

  8. Type the user name. password, and domain in the corresponding fields.

  9. Click Test Connection. A message will be displayed telling you whether the credentials worked successfully.

  10. Click Next. The Entity and Attribute Selection  tab is displayed.

  11. From the Select a CRM Entity drop-down list, select any entity. Attributes are displayed in the CRM Name field.

  12. Select the attributes you want to add to the imported data model, and click Next.

  13. Click Finish. You imported a CRM data model.
