Converting a Group Element to a Simple Element

After adding a group element to your data model, you may decide that you do not want the element to have any child elements. Instead of deleting this element, you can convert it to a simple element, calculation element, or linked element.

Note:
You will create group elements when you expect to add child elements to the group element. As a best practice, group elements should contain child elements.
To convert a group element to a simple element, complete the following steps:
  1. Check out and open the data model you want to edit.

  2. In the Data Model window, right-click the group element you want to modify. A shortcut menu is displayed.

  3. Select Convert to Simple Element. The icon on the element changes to a simple element.

    Note:
You cannot change a group element to a simple element if the group element contains child elements, because only group elements can contain child elements.

  4. Click the save button. You converted a simple element to a group element
