Manually Determining which Columns to Update with Data Item Values, Expression Results, or Literal values

Manually mapping data items gives you as the process owner more control over which columns in a database are updated with data item values, expression results, and literal values. When mapping data items to columns, the data item names do not have to match the column names.

To manually determine which columns to update with data item values, expression results, or literal values, complete the following steps:
  1. Check out and open the process you want to edit.

  2. Open the update database records activity in the process that you previously configured and now want to edit.

  3. Click the Data Mappings: Update Records tab. The corresponding screen is displayed.

  4. Select the Manually Map Data Items to Column Fields check box.

  5. In the Database column field, select the database column. The data type column is populated automatically with information from the database.

  6. In the Value to write field, select the appropriate input field editor and set the field to a value that corresponds with the data type.

    Note:
To map more columns click the plus sign (+) and repeat steps 6 and 7.
To remove a column mapping, click the minus sign (−)

  7. Click OK. You manually determined which columns to populate with data item values, expression results, or literal values.

    Note:
If you also select the Automatically Map Data Items to Column Fields check box, then the manual mapping will override any automatic mappings the Process Engine detects.
