Setting a Data Item Value to a Static Value When an Activity Completes

You can configure values that will be assigned to a solution or process data items, when the activity completes. One option allows you to set a data item value to a static value when an activity completes.

To set a data item value to a static value, complete the following steps:
  1. Check out and open the process.

  2. Click the activity that—when complete—you want it to set a data item value. The activity is highlighted.

  3. In the Design ribbon, click View Selection Properties. The activity properties window is displayed.

    Note:
You can also view the activity properties window by right-clicking the activity and selecting View Properties.

  4. Click the Data Item Assignments tab. The Data Item Assignments options are displayed.

  5. In the Destination Data Item field, click the Data Item icon. The drop-down list is displayed.

  6. Select the data item to which you want to assign a value. The data item name is displayed in field.

  7. In the Value to Assign field, click the drop-down arrow. The input field editors are displayed.

  8. Select Literal Value editor or Data Item editor from the drop-down list. The corresponding editor icon is displayed next to the drop-down arrow.

    Note:
If you select the Literal Value editor, type the value you want to assign.
If you select the data item editor, select the appropriate data item. The data item should have a static value.

  9. Click OK. You set the data item value to a static value. The value will be assigned to the destination data item when the activity completes.
