Creating a Calculation Data Item

A calculation data item is a data item that uses data that is a result of an expression. Each time an activity completes, the calculation data items are recalculated.

Note:
Calculation Data Items are read-only. You cannot edit this type of data item. 

 
To create a calculation data item, complete the following steps: 

  1. Check out the solution that you want to edit.
       
  2. Click the Create tab. The Solution Items ribbon menu is displayed.
       
  3. Click New Data Item. The Manage Solution Data Items window is displayed in the workspace.
       
  4. In the Name column of the new row, type a name for the data item. The default name is changed.
       
    Note:
    The Rule Engine does not support hyphens in field names.

      
  5. In the Data Item type column of the new row, click the drop-down arrow. A drop-down list is displayed.
      
  6. Select Calculation Data. The selected option is displayed in the Data Item Type column.
      
  7. In the Properties tab, click the Edit tab. The Expression Editor window is displayed.
      
  8. In the Expression Builder field, type the appropriate expression.
       
  9. Click OK. The expression is displayed in the Expression field.

  10. Click the save button. You created a calculation data item.
