A CRM Phone Call activity is a specific type of activity where the user is expected to make a phone call and then indicate that he or she completed the call. After the activity is marked as complete, the process will continue.
To assign a CRM phone call activity to a user, complete the following steps:
- Check out and open the process you want to edit.
- In the Toolbox pane, click Microsoft CRM 4. A list of activities is displayed.
- Double-click or drag the Assign CRM Activity into the process.
- Link the activity appropriately with other activities in the process.
- Right-click the Assign CRM Activity. A shortcut menu is displayed.
- Click View Properties. The Assign CRM Activity window is displayed.
- Click the Task Assignment tab. The corresponding screen is displayed.
- In the Assignment Profile field, click the Assignment Profile icon. A drop-down list of available assignment profiles is displayed.
- Select the appropriate assignment profile that defines the user or users that should receive this task.
- Click the System Resource tab. The corresponding screen is displayed.
- In the CRM System Resource field, click the System Resource editor icon and select the appropriate CRM system resource.
- In the CRM Entity field, select the appropriate input field editor and set the field to a value that is a CRM Phone Call activity.

If you select the CRM Entity editor, you can directly select the CRM entity that you want to assign. In this case Phone Call. If your system resource contains a data item in the connection string property, click Configuration values and enter a valid connection string for design-time, configuration purposes. |
- Click the Data Mapping tab. The corresponding screen is displayed.
- In the Attribute field, click the CRM Attribute editor and select the relevant attribute. The corresponding data type is displayed in the Type field.
- In the Value field, select the appropriate input field editor and set the field to a value that is to be mapped to the selected attribute.
- Click OK. You configured the activity to assign a CRM phone call activity to a user.
