Setting a Task to Escalate to a User in an Organization Chart

To set a task to escalate to an organization chart, complete the following steps:
  1. From the Solution Explorer, check out the assignment profile.

  2. Open the assignment profile.

  3. Click the Due Date tab. The Due Date, Escalations, and Overdue action options are displayed.

  4. Select the Due Date check box. The Due Date fields are enabled.

  5. Set the task to be due on a specific date or after a specific duration. Please refer to the corresponding topics for more information on configuring these values.

  6. Select the Escalations check box. The Escalations fields are enabled.

  7. In the Due after (d.h:m) field, select an editor and set the field to  the number of days, hours, and minutes the user to which a task is escalated has to complete the task. The format should be d.h:m, where d is days, h is hours, and m is minutes.

  8. In the Escalate To field, select the Expression Editor, Literal Value, Data Item, or Organization Chart editor and set the field to the name of the organization chart that should be used to determine the next user, group, or queue to task. The expected value is a name of an organization chart in your solution.

    Note:
    The Escalations field is optional.
If you need to add more escalations, click the plus sign (+).
If you need to remove an escalation, click the minus sign (−) next to the appropriate escalation.

  9. In the OrgChart Escalations field, select an editor and set the field to the number of levels in the organization chart from the assigned user’s current position to escalate before moving to the next configured escalation row in the assignment profile. The expected value is a non-negative integer.

    Note:
Use the value -1 to continue assigning to the next level of the organization chart until you reach the top of the organization chart.

  10. Click the save button. You configured the task to follow the escalation path in an organization chart.
