Setting a Task to Escalate to a User

To set a task to escalate to a user, complete the following steps:

  1. From the Solution Explorer, check out the assignment profile.  

  2. Open the assignment profile.
     
  3. Click the Due Date tab. The Due Date, Escalations, and Overdue action options are displayed.
     
  4. Select the Due Date check box. The Due Date fields are enabled.

  5. Set the task to be due on a specific date or after a specific duration. Please refer to the corresponding topics for more information on configuring these values.
     
  6. Select the Escalations check box. The Escalations fields are enabled.
     
  7. In the Due after (d.h:m) field, select an editor and set the field to  the number of days, hours, and minutes the user to which a task is escalated has to complete the task. The format should be d.h:m, where d is days, h is hours, and m is minutes.

  8. In the Escalate To field, select the Expression Editor, Literal Value, or Data Item editor and set the field to the name of the user to which the task should escalate. The expected value is a user account in the form of DOMAIN\username.

    Note:
    The Escalations field is optional.  
    If you need to add more escalations, click the plus sign (+).
    If you need to remove an escalation, click the minus sign (−) next to the appropriate escalation.


  9. Click the save button. You configured the task to escalate to a specific user.
